  1. Cheers mate, glad you like it. As for the fish tank idea, I got a question regarding doing one years ago for the same thing. I replied that the answer is no, the glue used is PVA, the coating is just sand then it is rattle canned and then various acrylics, washes, pigments added. I think, over time, you may find some floating fish. Also cleaning the thing would be just about impossible, the coating would probably just fall away.
  2. I have had this Marder knocking about for a while, lost the tracks for some reason-nowhere to be found so, with this in mind, I decided to make a post war memorial. I have seen a few that are badly conserved and I wanted to recreate this. First off, after the kit was made, I added some damage a couple of shell hits to the mantlet that killed the crew and disabled the gun. I then gave a spray coat of grey and and black-mainly the interior-so excuse the pictures showing the interior, these are dark and are supposed to be. The idea is that locals or councils etc just use whatever paint seems okay-the interior is just some black the exterior grey with brushed on colours depicting some sort of crude camo; I then added some simple graffiti. Next was a wash to dirty the thing and finally I added rust. There is a simple grassed base to make and add to tie it all in-when I get around to it. Si.
  3. I still had some supplies left over from the sunken sub commission build...soooooooooooo, I thought I might as well use some of them up. Another sunken sub, this one is a 1/144 scale type XXIII. I did her as if she was just under the surface with snorkel extended when she was attacked, depth charge damage to side and damage to periscope and snorkel due to depth charge and later on fishing nets...and no, not adding any netting 😃 Nice and easy build, straight forward and all built, coated, painted and weathered in one day. Si.
  4. Bless you Alan, so pleased you dropped by and for commenting. Glad that she looks right, you always worry if you have got the look correct-especially if it is for someone else.
  5. Hi Jeff, many thanks for popping by and the nice comment. Yeah, it is a depth charge, I normally do hatches open but thought this one closed, only one periscope is partially up and the conning tower equipment is in a semi up position, so a quick crash dive-two depth charges-one damaged the rear gun and railings the other caused the buckling followed by the decompression force. Well, that's the gibberish I am telling myself. 😃 Cheers Vince, appreciate it mate. Hi mate, no, I use a very, very fine sand, this leaves enough detail but also a more rough, growth like look. Glad you like it.
  6. Here is another sunken submarine-made for a commission from a guy that already had one of mine. I normally do the 1/125 scale as I find these better for my ailing, cramping hands but, they are scarce and can be expensive so a 1/144 scale was used instead. She is all done has been paid for and is off to her new home. Si.
  7. Cheers Vince, nice of you to think they are that good...there not really mate. 😀
  8. I have made some bits to go with the gantry crane. A mobile generator, a couple of mechanics, welding bottles and frame and a pallet with spare bottles etc. I used spare parts and junk from the bits boxes to make most of it, only expenditure was buying the two figures. Si.
  9. Cheers Vince. Mine is the more generic, heavy duty, in one place kind of crane as it also going to be used for more modern vehicles. I was going to do a German WW2 mobile wheeled version but I just used what I had in the end. No idea what the mobile cranes could lift, although they could lift a Tiger 1 turret.
  10. I am calling this one finished. The gantry crane for use with mine and the clubs RC tanks and vehicles. Top coat in black, was going to use maskol but the stuff had gone off so all the weathering is just surface painting. Si.
  11. For our tank groups home and away events I have a service area, mainly WW2, spare tracks, ammo etc. I have been wanting to make a service gantry, seen some pics of them from WW2 and thought I would have a try. I started out thinking of using plasticard with wood etc but there is just no way I my hands would have stood up to making something this large cutting and trimming on this scale. So, it was put on the backburner for a while until I went into a charity shop and found a knackered toy crane, snapped it up cheap, next door was chucking some old toys out and electronics so I asked of I could have a rummage-got the cables and the feet and then it slowly started to come together. So, kitbashing from old toys, plasticard, spares box etc and three cans of primer later I have a gantry! There is still painting, weathering and finishes to add but, here she is so far. https://ibb.co/1ThLv2m https://ibb.co/KqCxBJY https://ibb.co/Ph0L8T7 https://ibb.co/vD1j2nw https://ibb.co/7WTRv5b https://ibb.co/7Q88ys0
  12. Cheers mate, pleased you like it and thanks for stopping by.
  13. Thanks Vince, glad you like her. Yeah, will have to see if I have any allied troops in the spares box, they would look rather good.
  14. Hi Chris. This is a Taigen metal lower and Taigen top, we do 1/16 RC stuff but wanted a static version for sounds etc, this was a good use of spares.
  15. We needed a new knocked out tank for our home and away days at our club. I had one but it was missing some wheels, tracks etc and looked too gone for what we had in mind. So, total rebuild using a metal lower hull, new top hull, original turret as this houses the battlefield background sound effects unit. New sprockets, idlers and tracks. Total repaint with new decals added. I can now add a incense cone into the back and it smokes, coming out of the grilles and hatches to give the impression that it is still smouldering. Not great pics of it smouldering, looks better in the flesh, but you can just see it. Si.
  16. Just one of those things Vince, old age and illness. I have sold on most of models and RC boats, but still into the tanks etc, got to keep my hand in somewhere
  17. Superb modelling, very well posed and all round excellent dio.
  18. HI guys. Got another 1/16 RC truck. Replaced the gear/transfer box and the drive shafts with all metal. She has been painted and weathered, figures added in the cab, front and rear lights with the main lights dimming when the fogs are put on, meshed the front grille, roof vent and added decals. Si:)
  19. Hi guys. I posted some pics of the RC Gaz ages ago however, I recently went back to it as it needed some work on the lights and I added to it. Some more stowage and some figures, one driving and some others in the back. I am also making a trailer for this, hopefully will get some pics of that up when finished. Si:)
  20. Thank you mate, pleased the effects have worked. Hi Chris, my pleasure in sharing. happy that you find the subject interesting. That is wonderful to read Vince, very kind of you to say mate, I really do appreciate. I do not much modelling now as the hands are racked with pain ans cramps so small and detailed stuff is just out. I am still working on my 1/16 RC stuff, slowly. Again, thank you for the wonderful comment. PVA as Ratch points out, is just white glue, called school glue, or craft glue, cheap and easy to use. Ta for that Ratch. Yep, pet shop, or even Ebay do some small bags of fine aquarium sand etc.
  21. Hi Rod, bit late on replying, apologies for that. Many thanks for looking and commenting, glad you liked the wreck. Si:)
  22. Ta very much mate, she looks good roaming around, all my other stuff are German or US so it was nice to get a more modern tank-and not something that most get-Chally, M1 etc.
  23. Finally finished my RC ZTZ 99, a homegrown Chinese third generation MBT. It was stock when I got and had a few pieces missing so, accessory pack ordered from...China, only place I could get one from. I repainted and added the missing bits, I also added a turret NBC filter to the rear, some bendable mud flaps, a couple of turret detail items and some decals. Inside, I replaced the gearboxes with 4.1 steel gearboxes, metal sprockets, idlers and tracks. I also had to add 65 grams of lead to the front end as the added weight at the rear made the nose a tad skittish. So here she is, goes well with the clubs members Chally 2. Abrams and Leo. Si.
  24. Hi guys. Just thought I would let you all know that this has been sold, I got £27 + postage, it covered the materials, just. Main thing is, I enjoyed making it and it kept my mind and hands busy during a flare up and now someone else can enjoy it. Thanks again for all your comments, means a lot.
