I was born in Manchester and my father had a business in Trafford Park. There, i used to go out with a lorry driver who told me about 'bloody big aeroplanes' which turned out to be Lancasters back to the factories around the Manchester area.
Moving to Lincolnshire in the late 70's brought the 'bloody big aeroplanes' even closer as my father flew from Wickenby. Over the years I have visited many Bomber Command airfields, Waltham, Elsham, Bardney Skellingthorpe etc.
I also took the opportunity to photograph many of the buildings and also to draw plans of many. Currently I am building a diorama of an RAF camp on 8' x 4' boards of which I have Six.
I have 2 published books to my credit, No1 concerning the local airfield and No2 concerning wartime history of 100 Squadron
Self-employed, I work hours to suit but I never have sufficient time to complete those models that I want to build and to that end I tend to focus on Bomber Command subjects, primarily Lancasters of the local station, vehicles and even buildings from those days; Nissen huts and brick types.
My modelling skills have improved since joining a number of forums and I am always on the look out for new techniques to better my own attempts.
