  1. Does anyone know of Andy's status? He lives in Germany and I live in Texas, USA. Andy and I have become friends, Andy was going into the hospital for a operation and I have not heard from him now for 6-7 months. Andy is married but his wife does not speak english and I can't get in touch with him. If anyone can write german his wife is Sabine, his email is "[email protected]" and my email is "[email protected]" if anyone can get some info on Andy I will be forever grateful. Thank you, Carl

      Hi Carl, I'm sorry I can't help, but I don't think that many members look at the status updates, so you may have more luck if you posted this request in 'chat'.

      I wish you luck - Gorby

  2. I was in aw of the guy who built the Bismark and how he documented pratically every stage of his build, I wish I had the time to do that also but that will not happen. Chango, there were a couple of times when I felt like saying the heck with this model BUT then my wife would show me the receipt for the purchase and said either you finish that boat or you can just sleep with it!! My grand sons think it's cool!
  3. I thought about making the Missouri look old but I run a company that doesn't give me too much free time.
  4. butterfly mind, Thank you for your comment, the kit was fairly expensive for a plastic model, I don't think I will go that size again but when you get one I think you will enjoy the challenge. The only extra I bought was the Teak wood deck and it installed without a hitch. The 200 scale Missouri was $329.99 USD and the wood deck was $60.00.
  5. You know I am putting this model together for my pleasure, it's not post or pre anything but thanks for your reply. I posted the pictures as a friend suggested that is a memeber here

  7. Close to completion Can't get pictures here! Need help Please.
  8. Michael, You continuously amaze me at the perfection in your build! I'm building the 200 scale USS Missouri and having been out of the model building business for a few years because of my video business this model is a little intimidating. This 200 scale is the first large model build I have ever done, have several 350 scale builds under my belt. Your attention to detail is amazing I only wish I had your ability but at 69 years old the steadiness that once was there is fading ever so slightly. I remain in amazement at your ability, out standing job! Carl
  9. Michael, this is a "DUH" moment! For a college grad I have to admit to stupidity! I should have thought of that solution. Forgive.
  10. Hello Michael, I have limited exposure to Photo Etched parts, it make since to install them then paint, please excuse my lack of experience here. I have done the USS New Jersey 1/350, the Missouri 1/350, the Enterprise Carrier 1/350 and the 1/350 Titanic. I never thought about what dust would do to a model until it ruined all but the Titanic which has a display case. Sadly, the other three were so damaged by the dust they went into the trash. Do you have any guide lines for getting the water line painted on? Those 1/350 scale boats had lines on the hull for keeping the line straight this ship has a smooth hull. On the 350 scale ships I used masking tape to get my lines, however the stern on this ship is daunting. During the Viet Nam war I was assigned to a River Patrol Boat (Pibber) and was on one for 3 years, 11 months and 19 days . . . but hey who was counting? So long water lines are an issue, is masking tape the best utility for this step? Thanks for your time and your guidance if available. This is what takes some of my time, my studio;
  11. Michael, I would think the brass PE's should be painted, I've been aboard the Missouri in Hawaii and there are no brass parts like you show, the parts on the ship are painted. Please guide me in the right direction as I'm just starting on the Trumpeter #3705 1/200 Missouri and I'm torn to whether or not to purchase the Pontos #23002F1 Add-On kit for another $300.00 USD. Would the ship look good without the add on kit? I'm just beginning to paint the hull water-line. Your guidance will be greatly appreciated. Carl
  12. Okay guys, firstly I hope I'm in the right thread? Newbie here to this forum. I am just now starting on the Trumpeter 1/200 USS Missouri. I'm torn about getting the Pontos 23002F1 Add-On kit. Paid $330.00 USD for the Missouri and the pontos kit will be another $300.00 USD then a Plexiglass display case with base board will probably be another $250-300. Could someone tell me that has done a 1/200 Trumpeter ship and did not do the Pontos Add-On does the ship still look good without the Pontos kit? I have to justify the money expenditure to the wife!!
