  1. Great work and a brilliant subject (ok as an ex army dog handler I'm a bit biased). It's inspired me to dig out a half finished landrover I've got lying around somewhere. nice job!
  2. Hi mate Otterburn brings back memories, mostly of trying to survive endless waves of midges! I was with 27fd at Topcliffe so Otterburn was our closest location for live firing, we were up there two or three times a year. If I remember right one of the gun positions was just up on a slope where we fired straight over the main road which runs past the camp. Happy days but a long time ago!
  3. Talking of all things gun and in particular the FH-70 I managed to track down a 1/35 resin kit of the dreadful thing!
  4. Rob that's really kind thank you and will do Rich
  5. Thanks Rob, kind of good and bad news on that front. Good in that the kit arrived all the way from China, not so good in that somewhat bizarrely it arrived with instructions for the 1/35 Bronco Tetrarch??? Should be an interesting build!!
  6. A brilliant result and an interesting subject. I've been watching your build and enjoyed it so much that I've ordered one myself thanks!
  7. Same for the FH-70 the APU powered everything which was great when it worked but if not the hydraulics had to be hand cranked, not fun lol
  8. In the same sort of vein I was a gunner on the FH-70, a 155mm towed gun usually pulled by a Foden 6x6 gun tractor, but which also had the ability to scoot under it's own power. It was fitted with an 1800cc Volkswagen petrol engine which was used to manoeuvre in and out of positions and also when bugging out. It was driven from the black seat in front of the main wheel in the picture and steered using a short direction / steering lever and was a bugger to control. It had three forward gears and one revers and could do 15 - 20 mph under it's own steam (that was enough believe me). The whole gun could be raised and lowered on and off of it's main wheels by hydraulics for firing or transport and for driving mode the trails were closed and a pair of steering wheels lowered to make it a four wheeled vehicle. That said you wouldn't want to go far on that mode!
  9. That really is fantastic work, really hard to believe it's in 1/72nd, (I'd be happy with that in 1,35th!). Great subject too although as an ex-gunner I'm always up for a bit or artillery!
  10. A lovely job very realistic. Just a note but boy the Germans obviously like to make sure that everything is written down for the ground crews, it looks like they have War & Peace written down the fuselage
  11. That is very nicely done, love the subtle ageing very realistic
  12. Wow, that is absolutely stunning and what a colour scheme. really great work!
  13. Excellent work especially in 1/72 so much detail, a really atmospheric diorama too amazing!
  14. Very very nice, love the little face on the back, adds some real character to the thing. Great finish too, having spent several tours in Cyprus you're right about the dust lol
  15. really well done, excellent figures and impact strike on the Stug. Love it
  16. Fantastic job, I'd be happy with a result like that if it was in 1/35 really well done!
  17. Amazing!!!! Brilliant and as an ex Gunner I'd love to have had one of those lol. Excellent Mallards too!
  18. Lovely job and great to see more British cold war stuff on here, great work on the wiring on the back of the electronics / generator tray love it! From one Ex-Gunner to another, top job and Ubique!
  19. Hi and thanks, The FH-70 is a resin kit from Hobby Fan. I searched high and low for it and ended up stumbling across one on line in a model shop in South Africa of all places! worrth the hunt though as I served on them back in the eighties, a bloody horrible gun to work on by the way lol
  20. Thanks, they only ever had 11 of them all in the NBC Recce role as a stop gap originally. They've seen service with the RAF and the Army http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/05/02/army-brings-back-sniffer-vehicles-for-chemical-weapons-threat/
  21. So here's another slightly out the box one from me. Underneath it's the Revell 1/35 German Luchs with a bit of scratch build added to make my rendition of a British NBC Recce vehicle. Originally gifted as a stop gap by Germany I had a look on line and these vehicles have gone through various reincarnations with storage bins plus bits and bobs added and removed since we had them around the start of our journey over to the big sand pit. I know the markings and exact configuration may not be 100% but it achieves the overall feel I was after. This one comes complete with half of Salisbury Plain under it and definitely needs a trip to the wash down! The additional storage boxes were a few I had left over from the Takom FV432 and anything in white was scratch built from plasticard. Hope it's ok and thanks for looking
  22. great job, loving the ice scraped windows too
  23. Wow those figures are awesome, love the head set detail and excellent MTP too
