  1. I've never had any other problems with Airfix kits in the past, as it happens, just the Shackleton. After two emails, they now say there are no spares left for the Shackleton anymore, and that you will be added to a waiting list. Not good news. So, I shall wait and see what cones back. Let's hope they receive their next shipment of Shacks soon. I was looking for K15, the front canopy piece, but to no avail. So she will be finished minus a canopy ;( George
  2. I hope I'm not the only one chomping at the bit for this one to get out.......c'mon it's supposed to be a June release and it will soon be July! Ohhhhh how we need this classic jet....think of the beautiful modelling possibilities!
  3. Thanks BritJet, I shall try P-38 then for this, sounds very suitable for the job!
  4. Going to convert a P-3 into an electra, and for things like the nose radome and curving off the tail, would miliput be suitable for big jobs like this? If so which type would you recommend? Also I would use it for filling a own-made plastic tube that fits to the inside of the fuselage up to the diameter of the body exterior, so a type that can be slopped on in reasonably thick (5mm or so) thicknesses is ideal.
  5. Thanks for your reply, I will try to produce another hood then, possibly a vacuform one. Cheers!
  6. I have just finished making the avionic details inside the nose compartment on a 1/72 Vampire T11 and have a quick question for any Vampire experts: Would there be any possible time(s) when the nose hood that lifted up would be completely removed from the aircraft (perhaps for servicing the hatch or better access to the equipment) etc. It's just that I want to model the aircraft with hatches open but the nose hatch I have messed it up and it had to be thrown away. oops !!
  7. Warren- They probably weren't glossy when in service, and definitely would have been a bit more grubby, but these had to be cleaner and shinier so they are at least a bit like the real ones. And yes, the colour's on the real ones I know that the Vampire has a fictional colourscheme and inaccurate serial of XJ771, so perhaps the NF11 is the same?! Knight_Flyer-Thanks! That was just exactly the effect I was going for. Coors54- Well the stacked buildings you are talking about are actually in the hanger behind this one, there's a partition made of tarpaulin behind these planes and then the buildings I think are there. There are some grey DC3 wings resting outside the hangars, perhaps they are them! And yes, it was HU30 for green and HU64 for grey, not accurate but fine by me! MikeW- Thankyou for your kind words! Duncan B- I probably will do that, I have spares of fin flashes so I may chop them down a bit and stick them on. Anyway I am building a third Vampire that will have these correct fin colours on them, will do an RFI when it's done!
  8. Duncan- Thanks! oops, that's a bit late to change it now, but maybe I'll replace them when I have another airfix Vamp which won't be far away! jhutchi- Thankyou! When I build some more, like the JP5 or the Pembroke etc. etc. I'll take a few more pictures with the real ones too.
  9. I received some pretty negative criticism from the people on the UK Airshow Review forums about how my models needed a gloss coat, and their idea of Floor polish sounded really odd, so I left it at that. Anyway a few weeks ago I varnished a Canberra PR9 in the new Humbrol Clear bottles and it went really well, so the models got a sloshing of it too. And then yesterday, a short and spontaneous visit to Coventry Airport again meant this happened! I know the pics don't quite show it, but they are actually quite a bit more shiny now! Hope you like'em
  10. Thanks, it's funny you would suggest Halfords as their ''Champagne Beige'' and ''Racking grey'' look quite close, so I think they will be the one s to go for! Thanks for your help.
  11. Thanks for all your help guys, it appears 237 is the favourite, if not then Halfords may be on the list too. Thanks!
  12. Oh damn, they don't show the colours! Sorry, it did show when i made the post, but there the colours anyway!
  13. Pretty much as the title says, I'm not looking for an accurate Hemp, just one I can spray for an upcoming project. I have found three I can purchase that look close: 237 Desert Tan 93 Desert Yellow 63 Sand So i'm not sure, it's either 237 or 93 for me, what do you think?
  14. Great work! I have consigned mine to the bin though, it's a right pig to put together, but you have achieved great results!
