  1. I know I'm very late to the party but I just found this and I love your interpretation of Minna's strikers as an actual 109. The scheme and the markings look fantastic! I know this is a longshot but do you still have the files you used to print the decals? And I would also like to know if you made the little clear display piece with the image of Minna and the writing, or is this something you bought? Wonderful model, you've inspired me to try this myself in 1/32.
  2. Hey guys, sorry if this is in the wrong place I had no idea where to put it. But I have a question about the models, or lack of, of the Porsche Tiger prototypes. So far I've only found two that are available. The Dragon kit with Zimmerit, which is no good to me because I want a Tiger without Zimmerit. And the other option is the Platz Girls und Panzer version, which is the kit I'm looking for, but I don't want to have to explain the brand and packaging, understandably. So my question is this. Are there any kits out there of a clean Porsche Tiger I with no Zimmerit?
  3. The painting and panel lining on his ships really give them the look they have in the show, I wish I had half his talent. I've slowly come to realise that there's nothing better than painting, applying masking tape, painting again and then peeling away the tape to reveal a smooth, crisp, clean marking/camo pattern beneath. But as you said Misrule, I'll need to watch my usage, or at least buy a warehouse full of tape just in case. And that coin looks fantastic too, would go nicely in the collection with the WW1 commemorative coin I recently bought.
  4. Wow, that's certainly a fantastic site there Misrule, I never really though dazzle schemes would be doable in space, but some of the patterns there look quite good, although I'll need to transfer it to greens perhaps, all black and white/grey is what I'll be avoiding! Still, very helpful, thank you. I thought about the Bismarck style chevron, it doesn't actually seem too different from the Goergametsch battleship I did with the white stripe down the side. I think if I did that type of scheme it'd have to be with a battleship, so either the Gaiderol, Haizerad or maybe a Domelaze if I abandon my plans with a red dreadnought. It'd be nice if Bandai would release box sets of the smaller ships, like 4 or 5 of the little destroyers in a box so I don't have to go and get 2 extra ship set 2's just for the destroyers. Then again, two more Gaiderol battleships wouldn't be such a bad thing, but the point still remains. As you two have pointed out the German scheme, I might take a look at some German tank schemes and perhaps try a combination pattern. We shall see. But, I think I have my inspiration set in a clear path now, thanks guys! And I look forward to seeing how you get on with your build Madhatter, I might have to steal a few ideas from the finished masterpiece for my own build if it even ever happens. We shall see...
  5. http://matever.com/archives/ct01complete/post_7.html#more Well in terms of detailing, I've found a Domelaze from the same modeller who did the Balgray in splinter camo that I posted a while ago. Albeit the blue version. But we can go on the assumption that all 3 of the Zoelguut battleships have the same specs. However, this might give a bit of freedom as it's possible each ship had been modified in some way or another since they first entered service. Just a thought I had. Hopefully I'll manage to get a hold of a Domelaze some time this year. If not, the battle carrier is looking very tempting, it'd be nice to see the differences between this new one and my original version. On a separate note, I'm in need of inspiration for paint schemes which could work on Garmillas ships. I've got a few in the Balun green and dark green/brown camo, and the splinter camo is an option, but do you guys have any ideas?
  6. Well in light of the new movie(s), yamato2199.net held a modeller's competition, and just looking at what everyone's done, especially on the Gamilas side, is just really inspiring me to be more creative with my ships. Though I'd be too scared to try anything in case I ruin them, they're worth their weight in gold these 1/1000s. I thought I'd share the link, there are two galleries. One for UNCF and one for Gamilas. Have fun figuring out which is which There are some nice ideas for a Domelaze on there too http://yamato2199.net/contest/
  7. Latest news from the modelling community: Take a look at this, near the bottom if the page. http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/929/
  8. I think I'll have to buy one of these when it gets released. And now I assume the other ships will be released in the same scale too. Looking forward to it
  9. Yes, shame about the decals, but I'm glad they didn't work because the end result from the paint is better than expected. I'm hoping for a new Andromeda 1/1000 kit sometime in the future, if we get one I'd definitely get it. Love the Andromeda, and it's a shame about yours Misrule. I'd love to see some of you other kits if you can get a hold of them
  10. I'd love to see some of those in 1/1000! Here's my lot, sorry you'll have to click the links, it won't let me put the images straight into the post: Let's start with the Gamilas side http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0096_zps907ac144.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0109_zpse5c1ad68.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0110_zpsc3f74cd7.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0111_zpsaa0a109f.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0097_zpsc40cc042.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0108_zps66c90916.jpg Now the EDF, because I have no UNCN forces as of yet. Andromeda and a battered (broken antennae) cruiser. http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0098_zps838a7cd9.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0099_zpsd3bc345d.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0101_zps8f9729d5.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0100_zps1a0a587b.jpg http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/IMG_0102_zpsadd3e29d.jpg I'll post my 1/500 Yamato later in the week.
  11. Madhatter, I managed to find something different for the Balgray, its a custom scheme but it looks good enough to be canon. http://matever.com/archives/ct01complete/2199_11000_7.html All these camouflage patterns remind me of German WW2 naval camouflage, coincidence? I doubt it. I'll be posting my fleet sometime tonight, not as large as yours Misrule, but large enough to fit comfortable on a shelf together.
  12. I must say, the finished product is amazing! Having a contrast with different shades of grey really highlights some areas, and the choice of green goes better than I expected it too. Terrific work here Madhatter
  13. Bad luck, it was looking like quite a promising build as well. Damned bad luck.
  14. Funny you should mention the live action yamato, because I stumbled upon one talented modeller's version of the beast: http:/i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg533/otamay1941/390aug12add_zps4f06279f.jpg And if you guys haven't already, I suggest checking out the Yamato Modeller's Galleries at CosmoDNA Yamato and Fighters: http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/390/ UNCF and EDF: http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/391/ Enemies: http://ourstarblazers.com/vault/392/ I hope these links work, I can't copy/paste things.
  15. I had a similar issue with the Lambea, one of the flight deck sprues had snapped on one side and part of the deck was split. This wouldn't be such an issue but when I find out that my cousin's Schderg had a snapped sprue in exactly the same place it left me baffled. I hope Bandai isn't losing it's touch
