  1. Guys your advise has been fantastic, it's actually taken me in a direction I would not have considered. I will give the resin suggestion a go and let you know how I get on. Failing that kallisti, I will go back to my original thought of stratching one up from plastic. Trying to locate an original wing one for one of these is next to impossible.I loved the jr21 stuff and the artwork on the boxes. Thanks again for your replies hendie and kallisti Cheers davy
  2. Thanks hendie for that link and the reply mate, much appreciated. Yeah there's no real detail on the wing and they are Mirror images. I could effectively have this wing on either side of the craft. the yellow strips toward the narrow end of the wing can be removed As they are only stickers. I quests mounting this wing/fin will be The hardest part. I am mindfully that I will have to remove it from the silicone, with that in mind should I mount it vertically hendie and leave the top of the wing exposed for easier removal. Totally emersing the wing in silicone would prove difficult to extract would it not? Sorry mate, like I said earlier using moulds is not someone I have ever considered or contemplated doing before. Thanks for your advise and patience Regards Davy
  3. Hendie you make it sound easy mate lol. Great work on those two builds sir. Can I ask you to elaborate somewhat if you don't mind, just to make sure I have it down right. I take my original wing and encase it in silicone. ( are we talking about the clear or white stuff you buy for sealing around baths and sinks?) once it cures remove the wing and fill the mould with resin. Any suggestions where I would be able to pick up the resin and kit? As I need two wings I would have to repeat the operation. Then I am left with the original as a spare, am I correct?. That's really interesting. So if you could confirm the silicone query and where to be buy the resin and kit that would be brillant. Cheers Hendrie.
  4. Hi hendie, thanks for you reply. That's a great suggestion, but if I am honest I have never attempted anything like that in my life before. It may be a bit beyond me mate, but the idea of making two wings from the one I have, thereby ensuring both match is a great idea. If only I had that knowledge lol. Thanks for taking the time to suggest that idea. Regards Davy
  5. Hi david and Roy, thanks for your replies. Maybe I am biting off more than I can chew.trying to find a similar shade of green plastic, and coping the other to make a replacement sounds easy...but you guys have way more experience than me. Getting a piece of material close in size and painting it may be the best way forward Roy, so thanks for that. David your suggestion intrigued me, as I had never thought of using another kit part as a possible replacement. Not sure what the colour would be like, but the size would be the most important issue. David, I did measure the wing, so if you would be kind enough to compare it to your three models that would be great. From the outer edge of the wing towards the end of the piece that goes into the fuselage it's 5.5 cms. The width of the wing is slightly bigger than the actual slot that fits into the fuselage, it's 4.5cms. Anyway I hope that makes sense. Not sure how to post a pic yet lol. But thank you both for taking the time to reply. Really appreciate it. Kind regards Davy
  6. Hi guys, I am new to the site so any info you suggest would be greatly appreciated. I recently picked up a jr21 thunderbird 2 in an an auction, However it's missing one of the side wings. I hope it maybe possible to mould another wing from a piece of plastic, however getting a colour match is quite hard. Most greens in toys nowadays days tend to be brighter in colour and gardening equipment in plastic tend to be that bit darker. I don't really want to go down the route of trying to paint any replacement, as I would be more concerned about the difference in texture rather than colour. Should I find a near similar shade,Do any of you guys have any ideas of how to go about cutting the plastic to make a copy from the other one I have. Like I said earlier any help would be greatly appreciated. These toys are hard to find, so trying to find a genuine spare part like a wing is really hard. I did make brief contact with an ex pat living in the states, unfortunately he has stopped supplying Molded replacement parts. He did however promise to invoice me for the parts I needed ( a set of three blue fins for a jr21 friction powered thunderbird 1) but sadly despite several emails, never heard back from him. Hopefully someone can help me with this predicament. Cheers in advance Davy
