  4. Wow been away from modelling and the forums for a while now, great to see so much interest in the GB! Guess I have no choice now but to get back to the bench See ya'll soon
  5. Fantastic!! Really like the way the black came out!
  6. Thanks Miggers I'll have a look for one of those panels. Evening guys Perfect day for a bit of modelling dont you think?! Started to work on the flap area today and made some decent progress. Again not 100% accurate more of an attempt to busy up the areas... The flaps are just tacked on for the pictures they will be left off right till the end Here some the well known fit issues I have to look forward too.... Cheers Brenden
  7. Thanks Miggers, by the way do you know it the above PE IP panel would be accurate, I'm finding it very hard to come by pictures... Thanks Rick
  8. Not sure how I missed this entire build!! Looks great, you nailed that salt weathering technique!
  9. Morning Paul, looking forward to the rest of your build oh and welcome to Britmodeller!! Here is a link on how to make your own prop blur: http://fillnsand.blogspot.co.uk/2011/06/prop-blur-discs.html Cheers Brenden
  10. Yip know that feeling!!! Not sure how im going to tackle the IP but the kit part definitely needs to be change!! Probably go with some PE, I think the Spitfire MK XVIe IP is almost identical to the MK22 but again I'm not 100% sure!! Evening all After my post this afternoon I decided to do some work on the spitfire tonight. I really did not fancy filling the panel lines, sanding and then re-scribe the kit and have been trying to think of ways around it.... the thought of scribing terrifies me!! I saw/read some time ago about a modeller using tipp-ex to paint over the panel lines so I decided to give it a go!! After a tense couple of minutes testing a area of the lower wing it came out great after sanding and a tidy up, the thickness of the fluid is just about right to "half fill" the panel line, not perfect but at least now I don't have to re-scribe!!!! I've also cut out the wing ailerons, trim tabs, flaps and the moulded nav lights. Cheers and thanks for looking!! Brenden
  11. Nothing new to update, but I am looking for some info/pics, can anyone let me know or have pics of a MK22 Spit in flight just before touch down or just after lift off, I am thinking of displaying the aircraft just after takeoff or landing?? That is a possibility I never used the stuff before... was going to try TippEx or the usual putty and rescribe.. Thanks for the info Miggers, I am thinking of displaying the aircraft just before takeoff or landing, how far down would the flaps be?? Thanks Stu Thanks Kev your work is always top notch!! How is your build coming along?. I've hit a bit of a stall on the project as well but am going to try and soldier on this week! I've been reinvigorated by my display idea. Cheers All Brenden
  12. Beautiful paint work!! Really enjoyed watcvhing this build come together!
  13. Great builds!! I really need to get myself a couple of the 1/48 kits!!
  14. Thanks Col Thanks for the heads up, I'll have a play around and see what I can do. Thanks boet! Yip those trenches are pretty bad, once I've finished with the wheel wells I start puttying the panel line and attempt for the first time to rescribe a kit Thanks Nick Crobinsonh thanks, I have been using your and LSPKev's build as a guide and I just might have pinched a few things from your builds Thank you Triumphfan Thanks for the heads up, I had no idea that they were pneumatically operated. Thanks for that photo Tedfellow's I was looking for another angle of the flaps. Thanks Rick Thanks for the comments chaps, really appreciate it!! Cheers Brenden
  15. Gary that looks fantastic! Really glad you picked this up again!!
  16. Evening, another one from me tonight.. Just a quick update on this build, I've got some colour on the Alouette now, I could not take looking at that blue plastic anymore.... , it's more of a primer coat than a final coat, hopefully tomorrow I'll paint the engine and fuel tank up ready for shading and washing on Friday. As always thanks for looking and any comments and critiques welcome! Cheers Brenden
  17. Evening Gents Got some more work done the port wing wheel well and managed to shoot some primer to see how it looks, not bad but could use a clean up. Its not perfect or 100% accurate but it is one hell of an improvement over the standard kit well. Thanks for looking and any comments/help welcome Cheers Brenden
  18. Hi Col Looking really good! Pity about the underside, cant you just respray the affected area or would there be a noticeable step? Not sure which marking I'm going with yet... I decided to have my first attempt at masking and painting the markings so probably the most simple scheme will be chosen. Cheers Brenden
  19. Hi Will, thanks the Halo is currently occupying a sizeable piece of the shelf of doom at the moment... I decided not to motorise the rotors because of what Graeme said and I could not really strengthen the rotor attachment points within "ruining" the look of the rotor blade joints... Cheers Brenden
  20. those bang seats are going to look awesome when all painted up!! great scratching!!
  21. Evening All After some more furious Googleling during my "free" time at work I found some reference's so I can start some work. I've decided to attack the wings first and have started with the gear wells. As mention early the well's are completely blank and need some sprucing up. I started with the upper wing surface and glued the gun mounts in place and marked out where I will be boxing in the wells and marked out where the flap areas meet. I started cutting styrene strips to shape and test fitted but then notice that Ive had to remove the kit moulded well walls so that my bay would fit. After a lot of cutting, trimming and sanding I have managed to get a good fit. Let me know what you guys think, especially if it is wrong!! Thanks for looking Cheers Brenden
