which decal set did you use for this? i visited the museum in titusville florida where they had a tomcat with those markings and i want them to recreate the plane that i actually got to sit in! -

i would think that it's more about marketing (and gaining sales from new as well as existing customers) than it is about imagination...

oh sure, you can put the less famous squadrons etc on the decal sheet as an option... but to market it on the box with a less famous squadron? haha that's like choosing between me and David Beckham to advertise Adidas shoes

yes, but you aren't the target market for this new kit you are a "hardcore" modeller, so you will buy it no matter what decal/boxart it comes with... it has to also appeal to new customers who maybe haven't bought a Tomcat kit before! so imagine if you are a teenage boy who sees this new AMK F-14 Tomcat at the hobby store... would you buy VF-84 or VF-114?

agreed that VF-84 would sell the kit, but VF-101 is a nice compromise!
