  1. If you want to do a Canadian theme you could build an M4A2(76) or M4A3E8 with Strathcona markings. Unfortunately the Centurion wasn't used in Korea by the RCAC. All of them went to Europe with the RCD's. Evan
  2. Very nice. I like the muck on the lower hull and suspension. Did you consider making a small diorama or vignette? I really think that it would enhance the great job you have already done. The Sherman Firefly and Easy-8 are probably my favourite variants. Keep up the good work! Evan.
  3. Hey Rob, Miniart made some good figures for use with their Dingo, easy enough to use as crewmen. Dragon also has a nice set of 8th Army infantry. You could also take a look at Hornet and Alpine. All of these should still be available. Take a look at the ultracast crew men they should be fine for BEF. Evan.
  4. Excellent finish! I really like your weathering, very subtle. Evan.
  5. Nice kite. Very well done. You captured the fabric finish perfectly. I really want to do a WWI plane but the rigging has always put me off. I really should give one a go. Evan.
  6. Hey All, My Tamiya Wildcat is coming along well, but I’ve run into some snags and I was hoping I could get some insight from fellow Britmodeller members. First issue. Behind the pilot’s seat on his right (about 5 o’clock) there is a canister which I believe is either a fire extinguisher or an O2 cylinder. The Tamiya instructions do not indicate what colour it should be and my internet searches have given me three options: red, green, and cockpit colour. Does anyone know what this item is and what the correct colour should be? Second, what colour should the fuselage be under the front part of the canopy? I would guess that it would be the same as the over all upper surface colour but I’m not sure. Finally, the cockpit. I have painted the seat, floor, instrument panels and side-walls interior green, However, my research has shown that Grumman used a light grey primer (Grumman Gray [sp]) for the wheel wells, engine bay, inside of cowling, and inner fuselage surfaces. I have chopped the floor of the cockpit so that the pilot would be able to see the two windows in the lower fuselage below his feet. After scratch building some details, ribbing etc., I painted this area Grumman Gray. Is this correct? Also, would the grey have extended up the inner fuselage sides to the canopy opening, or would the plane have been Interior Green from the cockpit floor up. If the latter is the case, where would the demarcation be? I have currently chosen to use the Tamiya lower wing and fuselage joint as my demarcation, but I don’t think that this is correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Evan.
  7. Now, some of the very first -5s retained the rear quarter window. So, this is probably an early -5, as I do not see the bulge on the cowl below the flaps Hi Steven, Thank you for the references. It's amazing how faded these planes look. I assume they would be painted grey/green/sky? The upper surfaces appear to be one colour. What are the oval markings above the roundel in the first picture, touch ups on repairs or painted over markings? Thanks to everyone for your input, and a happy new year. Evan.

Really nice builds. My favourite has to be the Avenger. Scam
  9. Very nice. You've been busy this year. I like the mix of subjects. If I can do a quarter of what you did I'll be happy. Evan.
  10. Tremendous builds!! Evan.
  11. Hey All, Just a quick question. I just purchased the Eduard Hellcat, Weekend Edition, and I'm not too crazy about the USN markings and scheme provided with the kit (boring blue). I was thinking that an FAA plane would be more interesting, or the USN ASW1/2 schemes although the latter seems unlikely. My question is did the RN use F6F-5's and what would the camo be on this bird? I'm assuming grey/green/sky? Also, were these planes used in Europe or the North Atlantic? Cheers, Evan.
  12. Bloody hell. 80! Very impressive output. Well done. Evan.
