  1. [/url]">http://http://s1002.photobucket.com/user/planesy/media/IMG_0064.jpg.html'> Its been a long time coming but here's a pic of my completed project. For the build article go to Large scale Planes website and search Martin Planes 'Black 6' Once again thanks Paul.
  2. My goodness a total labor of love. Tremendous dedication and an eye for detail. Excellent
  3. totally fabulous build. A joy to see its progress.
  4. Hey I've always loved the Harvard/Texan and was fortunate to get a couple of trips in a few years ago. Didn't know it was available in the larger scale so will be keeping a very interested eye on this one. Always thought Airfix should have done one in 1/24th Scale and Tiger Moth to go with it!! Imagine that as an interesting diorama along with a Spit as a natural training progression for the new fighter pilot.
  5. Beautiful build. I have been tempted with Wing nut Wings for a long while now but just cant comprehend how you get the rigging to look that good! The thought of it scares me to hell One day I will pluck up the courage!!
  6. Hi all This is one of my first posts and its a cry for help. I have been in the process of trying to re-create 'Black 6' for many years now. My chosen scale is 1/24th and when the Trumpeter kits came out many years ago it re-vitalized my interest as they were bringing out new types. I then found dear old Paul from 682 decals who has produced some wonderful decal sheets for me. One problem. I bought two kits one of the G-6 and one of the G-2. Unfortunately the G-2 was damaged beyond repair which is the correct mark for 'Black 6' (without the nose cannon blisters) so I am desperately looking for a replacement set of G-2 cowlings. I wrote to Pocketbond who are the importers of Trumpeter but I'm afraid they have decided not to help me even after I followed the correct complaints procedure and cut out and enclosed the kit code reference from the box!! Frankly they were not interested in helping me which I found surprising and upsetting. So guys can anyone please please help? Here's hoping. Planesy
  7. Couldn't resist posting this. I haven't thought of the Airfix 1/72nd scale B-25 for probably 40 years. I can still remember vividly the box artwork and I believe the nose art was 'Lady Luck' with a shamrock on the side? Anyway my point is who else of a similar age remembers with almost tear jerking clarity their early life through the old Airfix box art works? I know I do. OH, sorry yeah, I'll come out of my fond distant past!! Go for the Airfix Kit. It is very old but I seem to remember it had working control surfaces and even a retractable undercarriage??? Best of luck to your son I hope he enjoys it.
  8. Guys help! I'm in the process of building the famous restored Black 6 in 1/24th scale. Paul Parkes has been great producing for me another one of his superb decal sheets. She is all built masked and ready for spraying but...... Dilemma. I am converting the Trumpeter G6 but disaster my cowling conversion getting rid of the cannon blisters has gone horribly wrong!! Has anyone please, please got a Trumpeter 1/24th scale BF 109 G2 cowling set? it would be perfect for me to complete the build. I would be happy to pay for it or at least the postage and packing. Thanking you on advance. Yours hopefully. Planesy
  9. Looking forward to receiving them Paul. Thanks for all your efforts on this project of mine mate much appreciated. Very best regards, Martin.
  10. Invasion stripes can be tricky but may I suggest Tamiya masking tape. Its the best I have found and very easy and accurate to use. Spray white first but very fine coats between drying times. I would suggest at least four to get a nice solid white background then measure out your black and voila! Take a deep breath, be patient and you will be fine. Good luck!!
  11. How about taken it to the next stage? keeping to the magnificent exacting standard of the models how about the 1930's? Hawker Hind, Demon, Fury, Tomtit. Bristol Bulldog, Gloster Gladiator........gorgeous aircraft being done justice for the first time by a real quality manufacturer. Dont it make you wanna drool!!
  12. Hi Chaps I build 1/24th scale as my scale these days. Although the size can be prohibitive to the size of a collection it makes up for it as a project and they look great when they are completed. This build the Spitfire dot com thingy is a very poor example. You are all correct and it does appear to be a complete mish mash of a number of marks and frankly the one on the TV advertisement looks awful. It does not have the correct dihedral angle and to me the fuselage looks the wrong shape and too short. If any are interested in building a Spit in this scale you have the option of the re-tooled Airfix or the Trumpeter versions. Their was a the promise of a Mk 18 from Vintage Fighters a while back but sadly I believe this company no longer exists. So, don't waste your money on a very poor attempt at siphoning your wallet. £896.00.......what a joke!!
