This is fantastic , I've recently been immersing myself in A12 and SR71 history , fascinating project , a truly impressive piece of engineering. Your model is well in keeping with the whole Kelly Johnson skunk works vibe , although I'd doubt the US military could keep something that big a secret . This model could easily of been decorating the design offices around Lockheed or Northrop in the 60's or 70's !

Great build , excellent finish , what paints etc did you use for this ?

Really ?! It doesn't look like a matt finish in the pictures , I've picked up a humbrol rattle can in satin finish. The plan was to try washes and weathering etc to dirty it up but I'm currently looking at making a shiny display model.

Found mine on eBay mate , seller was Malverns models I think , £19.99 with free postage ! I believe he's based in Lincoln .

Really enjoyed this reading this build as I have a 1/72 Hasegawa kit of this awesome aircraft. The nightmare of weathering and paint finish is pushing me towards making it a desktop display model tbh and maybe try another one once my skill set has improved lol. A truly brilliant model mate.

Many thanks for the replies chaps , if I don't find a suitable crew I am still toying with the idea of silvering out the glass and making a desktop display model of it. Still undecided yet though :/

This is truly awesome , love the paint effects , they're the stuff I could only dream of ! I've recently bought the Hasegawa kit in 1/72 and after trawling through all the images I could of the 71 ive currently resigned myself to satin black the whole thing and do it as a display model.

HELP ! I've just become the proud owner of the Hasegawa 1/72 Blackbird and I'm looking for a crew as there isn't one in the kit . Do any of you guys know who does a set of crew in this scale. It's been a bit of a bugger seeing as though the space suit wearing guys in the Habu and U2 are pretty unique !

There's some remains dotted about around Lincolnshire , I believe RAF Hemswell was a control centre if I rmember correctly.
