  9. Great to see more 1/72nd kits being made. I made the old Airfix 1/72nd Tiger, which is a bit long in the tooth, but I actually enjoyed the build and ended up doing a few modifications to it.. I haven't seen one of these being built yet, so I'm looking forward to following your progress. Kind regards, Stix

  14. Wow!! That's a really nicely detailed kit for 1/72!! The detail looks sharper than on my Dragon kit too, which I'm not jealous of at all! This should look superb! Definitely looking forward to following your project! Kind regards, Stix
  15. Good you are underway but it's a shame about the plastic and fit. I'm sure you'll be able to make a decent looking Tiger from it! Kind regards, Stix
  16. Looks like an interesting build to follow and great that you are underway already. I'm looking for seeing your progress. I've made a couple of Takom kits and found them good to make. Kind regards, Stix
  17. There's a lot in that box!! And great to see it underway. Hope you have a fun build! I haven't purchased a Border Models kit yet, so I will be interested to see this one in progress. Kind regards, Stix
  18. Interesting looking kit, which I've not seen before. I usually enjoy Dragon builds, the kits are usually nicely detailed. Just check through the instructions carefully. I've had some Dragon instructions which aren't as accurate or detailed as you'd hope. I hope you have a fun build. Kind regards, Stix
  19. Isn’t today the 'go day'? It says it starts on the 30th March on the main page. Today is the 30th March……isn’t it???
  20. Hi Stef. Thank you for your kind welcome...........we'll wait and see.............. 🙂 Kind regards, Stix
  21. So, as mentioned above, I have made a bit of a start on this, just to make sure I got something underway while I had the time. These are the sprue photos: Some closer views: Instructions: So I did a bit of assembly first for the first stage: Although I do pick and chose what I assemble.........I tend to only put together parts which need to be the base colour at this stage. The upper hull piece is only placed in place while the glue sets for the rear hull part. Wheels prepped and cleaned up: Then I got the base coat of Revel Aqua's 78, Panzergrau, applied to the lower hull and wheel parts. The paint was thinned with water and applied with a 7mm flat brush: I'm hoping to get quite a bit more done over the next few days. Kind regards, Stix
  22. I have been struggling to find time to complete a previous build but, hey, this is a Tiger STGB!! So I have chosen something I hope will be relatively quick to build. And I've wanted to make a grey Tiger 1 for a while now. However, while doing a bit of minimal research, I discovered that it seems likely that very few Tiger 1s actually operated in the the all grey finish. It does seem likely that the that one I have chosen to build, did get shipped to the s.Pz.Abt.502nd, in Russia, in the all grey finish, but I can see that it ended up in a whitewash finish at some point. So mine will be in that period between arriving and getting whitewashed! I have had this kit for a long time. It was purchased from Parabellum Models in Birmingham, when it was on sale. Seems like a good kit, but there aren't many full reviews of it. So this is the box art: Sale sticker: And this is the one I'm planning on making it as: Contents in the box: Hopefully I'll find time to keep this thread updated. I'm planning on making use of the Easter Break to get this properly under way. I have made a bit of a start and I'll post some photos of my progress shortly. Kind regards, Stix .....and Happy Easter!
  23. Good afternoon. Only a single photo update. A bit more weathering on the wheels done and some mud and a bit of weathering done on the lower hull sides. Not much of the hull sides are going to be seen once everything is in place. The photo shows the wheels, idler and drive sprocket just being tested in place. I won’t fit them until I have done some sorting/fitting with the tracks. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix
  24. Hi @Nigeyboy, @echen, @edjbartos, @Muchmirth, @Keeff, @Longbow, @Hamden, @FrancisGL & @Rumblestripe, Thank you all very much for your interest in this project and i apologise for the length of time before this next update. After getting the parts, seen in my first post, above, to where they are, I got all the remaining parts painted with thinned Humbrol's Desert Yellow. I only use Acrylic paints, which I thin with water and apply with flat brushes. To be fair, because of the colour of the plastic, It is a little difficult to see what's painted and what isn't: A quick test fit of the painted upper and lower hulls: Then I wanted to do a test of the colours I planned to use. So, as the wheels alternate in the camo colours, I decided they'd be a good place to try out the colours. I decided to stipple these colours on, to try and get a slightly mottled effect: Then I did my usual base weathering routine. First they were given an overall wash of Revell's Acrylic Gunship Grey. Once dry, I used a fine pointed paintbrush to apply very thinned Revell's Acrylic Anthracite in and around the details. Once dry again, I drybrushed a lighter version of each colour over the surfaces. The tyres were given a couple of coats of thinned Anthracite, applied with the fine pointed paintbrush: Next, I will probably do some more work on the weathering before fitting the wheels and tracks. Comments and suggestions welcome. Kind regards, Stix
