  1. Hello everyone, I am trying to establish contact with the above gent, sent him a private message a while ago, so far no response. If anyone knows him could you ask him to send me a private message containing his email address please?
  2. Hi Gents, very sorry to report that the man behind Showcase Models passed away in April and at this stage I have absolutely no idea what has happened or will happen to this project.
  3. Hi 'actonw5', have just sent you a personal message with my email address, hoping to hear from you.
  4. Hi Sean, no don't have photobucket, tried to use it once, I found it too complicated then what I loaded onto it vanished. Luckily I still had the photo's filed away safely.
  5. Hello to anyone who might??? glance at this thread, My kit arrived today and I'm quite impressed with it. The castings seem quite nice on initial inspection and although there are a couple of fine items broken, they are easily fixable. Hmm, I cannot find where/how you add a piccy.
  6. Hello Chaps, A wee little update on the above. My first kit release will be the Fairmile B class ML, around 60-70% brass etch with the hull in resin as are the guns, fittings and crew figures etc. I'm still 'playing around' with the parts drawing, by hand initially then having a friend convert this to the appropriate file type for etching. The purchaser of this kit will have a two build options, these being ML 145 an early war 'generic' ship armed with a 3pdr up front and one 20mm aft. The other option being ML 306 of 'Op Chariot' fame, this one actually made it out of the estuary but ran into the German TBD 'Jaguar', ten times her size tonnage wise. Against three 4.1" guns, 20mm's and other quick firers the ML only had a twin Lewis gun, some Brens and 'tommy guns' manned by the commando's. It was here that SGT Tom Durrant RE was awarded a posthumous VC on the recommendation of the German captain for taking on the destroyer with the Lewis gun. I'm not stating a release date because I simply don't have one.............yet. Enough waffling for now.
  7. 'longshanks', Do you know who stocks this kit? This is also on my 'to do' list in 1/144th scale, along with a Chinook if I can find the right kit to do the MH-47D which I believe is the one used as per the movie, which I might add I think is excellent. I would also try and do the drone, which will be a guess size wise. Der, I'm a dummy. I've just checked out their website and am quite surprised re the price, only $A39 approx plus postage, my wallet's twitching.......................quite a bit.
  8. Hello 'leyreynolds', I'm doing Allied Coastal Forces models in 1/144th scale. So far I've built nine Fairmile B class ML's for customers here in Oz and I already . My plans are to do the 'B' as my first kit release. It will have a resin hull and some fittings with around 60-70% produced in etched brass. This will be followed by the Vosper MTB, the US 80' Elco PT Boat, the PBR Mk II, the Fairmile C class MGB, the Fairmile D class MGB and MTB and the US Higgins 78' PT Boat. Now, people need to be patient, in fact very patient, perhaps I should say extremely patient!!!!! It will happen, but it's a slow process. If you send me a 'pm' with your contact details (if you're interested of course), your email address and phone number and I'll be in touch. This goes for anyone else as well. Roger P. Bendigo, Australia.
  9. Hello again everybody, I thought now is the right time to update/introduce you to the excellent range of 1/72nd scale models under the ‘Coastal Craft’ label. These kits are produced in the UK since 2013 and are available direct. I have two (as yet unbuilt) kits, the Vosper ‘234’ boat and MGB 77 and I think they look very good indeed. Some might think they are expensive perhaps at around GBP95-100 (the Fairmile D GBP175), but I consider they are worth every penny. The kits have plenty of detail parts, both resin and brass etch. I suppose you could superdetail them if you wish, but isn’t that the same with any model kit you buy? Available now. MTB 234: with 20mm Oerlikon on foredeck. MTB 81: with Breda 20mm on foredeck. MGB 77/81: British Power Boat Co. 71’6” boat with a 2pdr Mk IIC. MTB 466: as above but MTB version with a 6pdr foredeck. MGB 673: A Fairmile D class MGB. MGB 107/115: Same as MGB 77/81 but with a 2pdr Mk VII on Mk XVI mount. MTB 476: Same as MGB 77/81 but with 6pdr on foredeck. Instructions for the above kits are available to download from their website --- coastalcraftmodelsuk.com The website also has details about the various extra items, guns etc which are available and the guns are mini kits in their own right. Coastal Craft also stock the excellent figures produced by ‘Gunthwaite Miniatures’ in various forms of dress including oilskins, duffle coats and tropical dress. There are other figures available from Milicast with three of their range suitable for MGB’s and MTB’s. Future releases. 55’ CMB: a WW1 torpedo boat. LRRC 007: The rescue version of the Fairmile D. MTB : The torpedo version of the Fairmile D. MGB 64: British Power Boat Co, early war 70’ boat.
  10. Thanks 'nicE1', I registered just now and will try there once accepted. Cheers, Roger.
  11. Hello from way ‘downunder’, I am trying to re-establish contact with John Elsy, the builder of a superb model of Fairmile B class ML 268, one of the ill-fated motor launches from Op Chariot, the raid on St Nazaire, 28 March 1942. My feeble brain cannot work out how to attach a piccy. I too am building a model of another of the ‘Chariot’ ML’s, mine being ML 306 which carried the heroic Sgt Tom Durrant VC who received his decoration posthumously on the recommendation of the commander of the German destroyer which Durrant took on with a twin Lewis gun. I last had contact with John Elsy some years ago and know his wife’s name is Margaret and he lives/used to live in South Shields, Tyne and Wear in the UK. His email address and phone number are no longer valid, so I ask if anyone out there knows of him, could you ask him to contact me via a ‘pm’ please? Thankyou, Roger Pearson. Bendigo, Australia.
  12. Hello Gordon, Initially I'm making the models from card and given there are no card kits of WW1 craft available I'm designing my own, by hand I might add as I don't have any programmes nor the knowledge to do them otherwise. Plus I don't always have access to our computer here at home. I like the idea of doing card models initially as it allows the ability to rescale to any scale/size required, I mainly do 1/144th scale and have 'tinkered' with 1/72nd and 1/35th scales. If I start to get more interest in a particular model then we seriously consider producing a resin kit. I actually have available now a 1/144th scale resin Fairmile B class ML. The reason being, apart from it being my favourite 'little ship' it is the one I've had most orders for, mainly here in OZ initially but lately the US, Canada and the UK. I was doing the fittings/weapons etc as resin castings anyway and I do the railings and other parts as a brass etch. I like to think my prices are reasonable (I've been told I should charge considerably more, at least double!!) and the price includes postage so my customers know straight away what they are up for, I don't have any other hidden charges. Cheers, Roger in OZ, Bendigo, Australia.
  13. Hello Everyone, Well the next chapter has finally occurred, the first resin 1/144th scale Fairmile B class ML's (three of them) are on their way to there new owners. My customer wanted three models of her late father's 'little ship', ML 357 and RN ship from the 42nd ML Flotilla which saw service in the Aegean and Adriatic Seas during 1944-5. ML 357 was often engaged in clandestine work with the LRDG and Greek Sacred Sqn as well as doing runs to and from Crete. Hmm, not sure how to insert a photo will try and work it out. Cheers, Roger in OZ.
  14. Hi Guys, 'seadog': I only received the news myself a coupla days ago. If you are wanting to do a 1/72nd HDML may I suggest you check out "Coastal Forces in Paper" who does quite a range of coastal forces kits and being card models you can rescale them which is precisely what I'm doing to get models in 1/144th scale. 'Sgt.Squarehead': the photo I posted is one of the two they sent me, if you want more then shoot them an e-mail. 'mick b': the kits retail for 90GBP which equates to approx $US145 and $AU142. Yes a tad expensive but I think they are worth it.
