  1. Mungo- And of course I have Tamiya and Accurate Miniatures! Thanks for the suggestions all...using the HVAR stubs might work as I have more than a few of those sitting around. I'm actually surprised that I haven't found aftermarket loops anywhere.
  2. Help! It seems that every CBI-based Mustang (and others) I want to build has a DF loop on the fuselage spine, but no kit I know of has one included (speaking only of 1/48th; I know some of the 1/72nd kits have them). My scratched attempts look horrible, so I'm asking what others do to make them. I'm "assuming" looped wire and built up base? Thanks in advance! 3. Thanks for the input everyone. I was sure it would be more work than some other kits, but then that's real modeling right? Paul E.: I have quite the stash of white and yellow stripe decals from railroad models, so that's an idea. I foresee lots of straightedge use in my future...
  4. Evening all, I picked up the 25th Anniversary edition of Dragon's 1/700 HMS Invincible at a swap meet this weekend; this may be my first ship build since the 80's. The kit's decent overall but wow! Those raised lines on the deck are...very retro! I know I could mask and paint all of the stripes when it's time to do so, but aftermarket decals would sure be great. Can anyone point me toward a set that could at least complete the skimpy kit decals? - I'm looking for the 1982 time period, of course - Even a generic set would help. Maybe this will convince me to move up to 1/350th where my choices look a bit more varied. Thanks, Paolo
  5. I'm starting to like the idea of the 19 Sqn F2's...I much prefer aircraft that can fly versus earth-bound ones
  6. Thanks, guys! I've always liked the RAFG Lightnings' camouflage variation (and I guess I meant "green and NM"). I have the dilemma of too many Lightning schemes to choose from and too few kits to build (not to mention space). Of course, I could always buy another kit...
  7. I'd like to finish my lone Airfix F2 as a 92 Sqn bird, not in NM and blue but in green as here: http://sg-etuo.de/Squadrons/No92SquadronF2 Was XN768 the only F2 that wasn't converted into an F2A AND was painted over-all green? (and is the 8347M a later, post 92 Sqn, serial?) Thanks, Bubba
  8. I have both kits and the diagrams are identical, just more detailed in paint call-outs for the 1/48th version. Here's a pretty good build that has alternate paint ideas: http://www.scalemodellingnow.com/wp-content/uploads/pdfs/FR-Ac-Academy-F.22Raptor-1.48scale.pdf I haven't built either of mine yet since I'm afraid to start painting! All of the F-22's I've seen in person seem to change color as you move around them... Hope that helps a little bit!
